Our Own Fall Portraits!

Would you trust a photographer who has never invested in portraits of themselves? In a different post, I share about how much I wish I could go back in time to capture some precious memories growing up to pass down to my family. But today, I want to share some beautiful fall portraits we had taken last year by my friend and amazingly talented Fran Ze Photography. Her portraits are displayed throughout this blog and on my website. And every time I look at them, I feel loved by my husband and hope my children and their children and their children’s children will be able to see this as well.

Thank you, Fran for creating these priceless images for us!

Liz Behind the Scenes

While on a recent Senior Portrait shoot here in Bozeman, my friend Anne H. decided to shoot me herself :). Photography is one of the most violent professions I’ve ever seen!

This is some pretty serious stuff… Look how focused (pun intended) I am at getting my subject :).

Santa Monica Beach Sunset

bozemanphotographer

Who would have thought that I would find peace, rest and quiet just west of L.A. right in the middle of Rush Hour? That’s exactly what I found in this beautiful sunset in Santa Monica Beach in CA. I felt silly at first going out of my carefully-planned GPS route (more on my geographically-challenged self later), finding what seemed like a needle in a haystack for parking, and walking a few blocks just to go watch the sunset. Then, there it was. The breeze, the sound of the ocean, the water on my feet, seagulls, seeing other couples embrace the moment, and one of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve ever seen! Photo courtesy of my cell phone.

I’ve recently read a quote saying, “The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time,” and on that day, it totally made sense.

Here is to happy time wasting!

A Photograph-less Photographer: My Mission Part I

My first photography session experience was during my wedding about 10 years ago. Part of it was the unperceived value of creating professional heirloom memories, perhaps a side-effect of growing up in a third world country? I mean I have some snap shots with flash, dark, distracting backgrounds, and some of us looking quite stiff. But not much in the sense of “Pinterest” worthy… or office wall worthy for that matter. Not even Senior Portraits. And I so wish I could turn back in time just to capture some precious years in a precious way.

Here is one of the very few photos I have of my family. My dad is taking the photo.

A lot has changed since then. This is why I’ve declared myself a one-girl photography operation to ensure that families have precious legacies to pass down to future generations. But it does not end there. Stay tuned to read Part II soon! :)

The Lizmobile: My Precious Loyal Car

Never in my life did I imagine I would have many things I currently own, such as my very own special vehicle. Lack of dreams? Maybe. But maybe it was the reality of living overseas with much bigger priorities than a rolling billboard. So you can imagine my excitement when this suddenly became a possibility. I pulled out my nerd and virtually designed this on my computer, then approached several companies in town and lastly chose Ink Outside the Box for the special job. And boy did they deliver!

This is the “After” and finished product:

This was done in 2011 and soon I’ll be in the process of updating the photos on my car to portray my current work and specialty. I’m so blessed to have this car, and it is a Subaru, so it passes Mr. Geary’s standards! The car has been so loyal to me despite my jumping it off the median in 2010, and a couple of golf-ball size hail storms. And a trash can.

To Blog or Not to Blog

This is the question many busy professionals like myself ask in fear we will not be able to keep up with it. So much to do and other Social Medial outlets to update already!

Writing is not my forté. I often have to think in Spanglish and translate. Then, there is grammar checking and making sure a phrase is properly worded and not boring. By the end of a Lizified sentence, the beginning of it starts not making sense. And to top it off, there is the perfectionist in me who wants to make sure every layout, and every element is eye-pleasing and fully functional. And color coordinated. And perfectly aligned. Someone once told me that “the road to perfection leads to procrastination.” And I believe it.

And since I have so much to give, and so much to share, I’ve decided to just jump in. I do promise that sometimes this Blog will be unattended, and that sometimes it will have glitches, and that sometimes it will not make sense, but I simply cannot let the fear of failure hold me down :).

Whew! That disclaimer felt good! Now that it’s out there in the open… let’s have fun!!

Enjoy,
~Liz

The Blog’s First Test Video Post

Yep, this is still a test post. It will be removed once I get over the cuttle little pigeons AKA “Angry Birds.” But for now, enjoy!
